Coronation Hall
Today's the day ........................... for young talent
We've just got back from really one of the most amazing concerts I've ever been to.
It was extraordinary - because it was so ordinary. By that I mean, it was a bit like just going round to someone's house for a bit of musical get together - because the atmosphere was so relaxed and informal. The fact that it was a sell-out concert in the Coronation Hall in Ulverston which must hold several hundred people didn't seem to make any difference.
It was a concert of young musicians organised by Jess Gillam, local lass and 2016 BBC Young Musician Woodwind Finalist Winner. The saxophone is her instrument. She had persuaded some of her friends (all award winners) to come along tonight to join her in a programme of breath-taking musical talent and expertise. We felt very privileged to be in the audience.
Every single one of these young people has a bright musical future ahead of them .........................
