Six Herons

It was unusual to see a load of the herons together as they mostly fish alone.

The heronry was high in the trees in the background and when they are spooked these birds have a loud human-like choking scream which is really, really horrible. It just echo'd accross our wee bay and off the high trees.

They really are gangly big birds and when they fly they resemble smaller skinnier pelican the way their necks coil back into their chest.

Not sure what they taste like but the eagles seemed to like them.
