Cranes everywhere, in and around Portland's Pearl District.  Streets closed week after week. Fights over extended hours of pile-driving in residential neighborhoods. 20 new projects announced, 26 projects in design/land use and permit review, and 22 buildings currently under construction. The city is in desperate need of moderate and low-income housing. The realtors and developers are eager to build more luxury condos. The lower-priced buildings that do get built contain tiny studio apartments with no off-street parking.
