Vernon Treweeke
Please SEE LARGE.
Some of you may recall that a few weeks ago I blipped some murals that appear under Katoomba Railway Station, along the pedestrian tunnel. Unfortunately I was in a hurry at the time and didn't really do the job properly. Not only that, but I had not (at the time of that blip) learned the technique of stitching multiple image panoramas.
Anyway I now seem to have gotten (mostly) on top of pano stitching and so I present both sides of the tunnel with the bits fully joined up. Unlike a certain other location, full credit is given to the artist in the form of a plaque (that I completely missed last time) which I have included as my EXTRA image. Vernon Treweeke was a well known local artist whose work I shall document around a number of Blue Mountains sites in the next little while. I was inclined to believe that this combined work (see EXTRA) was also Vernon's although I wasn't absolutely certain last time. Now I am.
Trisharooni has found an image of Vernon working on the restoration, HERE. I have come across several good articles on Vernon's life and work, including THIS one. Unfortunately he passed away in March of last year.
