Admirable
An all action day on the 'nature and wildlife front' but to cut a long story short - bird droppings in the house were not a good sign! A swallow had flown through .....ish.. ! We do have a history of this but that is far more facebook but suffice it to say, it left. - after a small amount of encouragement and more droppings!!
Went out to get a shot of a Red Admiral as one had appeared for the first time yesterday and to be fair yesterday's shots were far better of the male but 'hey ho!' swings and roundabouts!! :)
The name 'admiral' is a corruption of the word admirable referring to it's bright colours. I had always thought it was something to do with sailing and flags :( . This is a female and they tend to feed on rotten fruit and buddleia,. Some can hibernate but most perish in the cold.
