Marriott's Way
A post lunch stroll took J & I along a short stretch of Marriott's Way, a long distance cycle, foot and bridle path which runs from Norwich to Aylsham along stretches of two former railway routes. It's named after William Marriott, chief Engineer and General Manager of the M&GNJR, the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway, also known as the Muddle and Go Nowhere ..... sadly rather aptly. It is a great resource, much used by walkers and cyclists, especially where, as here, it runs through Norwich suburbs. Within the suburbs the path runs mostly through green spaces, close to the river allowing the users to feel as if they have escaped into the countryside.
