A very big house in the country
The Catholic Church of St Peter St Paul and St Elizabeth at Coughton Court National Trust property a couple of miles from where we live.
It was a Catholic stronghold and sheltered some of the Gunpowder plotters after their , what would be called act of terrorism now. There was originally a catholic church nearer the house but during the reformation it was forced to become Anglican. Later in 1857 when non Anglican churches were permitted once more , this newer Catholic Church was constructed in 14 th century style, a little further down the driveway.
We met lots of people we hadn't seen for years. The mulled wine they were serving was highly recommended but we had to go home to check the Christmas pudding which I had left steaming!
