The Snowman and The Snow Dog
I had planned to get up early-ish and head into Edinburgh when the boys went to BB’s football. His football was cancelled today, so we all took things easy and I decided there was no need to rush. The boys dropped me at the station late morning and I squeezed onto a jam-packed train. Once in Edinburgh I couldn’t believe how busy it was. I had a couple of things to do which didn’t take long. In a bid to escape the hordes, I went to see The Goldfinch in the National Gallery, which has inspired me to pick up the un-read book of the same name which is sitting by my bed (however I need to finish my current book first). I wandered through Princes Street Gardens and then caught a bus for (as ever), a very long overdue haircut.
Once I had been shorn, I caught a bus back to Haymarket Station to catch a train to Inverkeithing, where the boys picked me up and we headed north to granny and grandad’s. BB was welcomed with his tea on the table, whilst TT and I were going out with friends for a Christmas curry. We had a great night catching up, and I have to admire D’s persistence. The restaurant had it’s Christmas decorations up, and the staff were wearing Christmas ties, but there were no crackers. Every time they came to check that everything was alright, D said yes, but it would be so much better with crackers!! The waiter kept saying there were no crackers until the 9 December! When we were the last table left in the restaurant and they brought us crackers with the bill – there was much hilarity!! The evening ended with the boys raiding C’s whisky collection.
I spotted this pair in Waverley Market/Mall, or whatever it is called nowadays!
