A Walk In The Woods
Enthusiasm for parting with the sofa varied widely amongst siblings today. But, guinea pigs and humans must be fed, so a trip to the supermarket beckoned which turned out to be quite eventful (well mildly). A nice lady was standing at a small stall, promoting truffle chocolates with of course free samples. The children spotted this shining beacon of sweetness immediately and to avoid conflict we successfully negotiated the release of three of the chocolates from her clutches. Master H failed to be impressed, probably due to the bitter cocoa coating, but his loss was my gain (truffles shouldn't be wasted after all).
Next, a gentleman walking past in front of us, dropped something. I heard a faint thwack as what turned out to be a wad of cash hit the floor. He didn't turn to start with, so I bellowed at him at which point he stopped and looked back. On realising his mistake, he thanked me and collected the dropped cash which looked to be at least £50, probably more. Having by now finished our shopping, we returned towards the tills, passing along the way the same chocolate lady, who invited us to sample her wares. She seemed oblivious to the fact that only minutes before we'd secured free samples already. The awkwardness was however short-lived and we accepted her kind invitation of more, only for the purpose of maintaining British politeness you understand. Money-dropping man re-appeared by my side, wishing to thank me again for pointing out his dropped cash, it seems the scale of his mistake was great as he was most relieved and equally thankful, shaking my hand firmly.
Back in the car, Master H set about showering the back seat with small plastic parts that had been attached to the front of his comic (much to his annoyance) but never mind as within a few minutes, we'd arrived for larks in the woods. The girls having missed out on our Friday visit dashed off for climbing and swinging on the play equipment and pictured here is Master H doing his best to catch up.
