Grenoble

I have an unusual luxury of having a tonne of photos to choose from, so here is one of Grenoble by night that I took from partway up a mountain.

Left at 4am again to catch my flight (didn't learn my lesson from Hamburg) and made my way to the centre of Lyon where I was surprised at the train station by Bel (actually I found her before she found me, so I guess I surprised her... oops) We went to explore the town including umm a lovely industrial park, and then once we had figured out where we were going, a massive Christmas market - the main event. It was SO good, probably the best market I've been to - every stand was full of great gifts, no tat. We bought a skewer of fruit covered in chocolate which would be the first of three throughout my trip... so good.

We got the coach back to Grenoble and went straight to Issy's friend Liv's flat which is across town and up the mountain (a VERY rocky bus journey where the bus had to do a 3 point turn on every hairpin bend...) - I met Issy's year abroad friends who are all lovely and we had some drinks in the student bar. Took this photo on our walk back down.
