Fun filled festive day out

We've had a nice busy day today. After dropping P at school we headed through the thick fog to meet my mum at the garden centre near her. We had a look at the Christmas decorations and a general mooch about the shop before seeing the live Reindeer. They were so cute and A loved them. He was very good at feeding them some carrots too. We went for a hot chocolate to warm up and I ordered a baby hot chocolate for A. We were surprised when it came out as it was the same size as mine, complete with cream and marshmallows! A thought it was Christmas already! However he decided he didn't like the cream so poor old me had to have double cream on my hot chocolate.

The winter wonderland opened at 11am so we made our way straight round to find that a queue had already formed. It took 35 minutes to reach the actual entrance and A was very good whilst waiting. Once inside we boarded the little train for a ride round, we saw some singing reindeers, waving snowmen, story telling bears and santas workshop. A enjoyed every second and for only £1.50 each you can't get better value. This is the 3rd year we have been.

A quick drive to mums house where dad had freshly prepared Macaroni Cheese for lunch. It was delicious and A cleared his bowl. No time to hang around though as we then all whizzed over to my Niece's school to see her in her first nativity. She was on right at the start of the show and did brilliantly. She didn't look nervous at all and remembered exactly what she needed to do. When the choir started to sing 'Silent Night' it all got a bit to much for A. He fell asleep on my lap and missed the rest of the performance. He only awoke at the end to huge applause!

Back to my brothers house for mince pies and coffee and to congratulate my niece on a wonderful first performance. I'm so glad I got to be there to see it too.

A busy day and my wretched cold started to take its toll on me. I've been steadily feeling worse since Sunday. I filled my pockets with tissues, took two paracetamols and made the slightly treacherous drive back home. The fog wasn't too bad in the morning, in the daylight, but driving through it in the dark was horrible. I felt completely disoriented and for once was quite glad when I got behind a lorry. But alas we made it home in one piece and after getting the children to bed I quickly followed...
