The House on the Hill
They are all gone away,
The House is shut and still,
There is nothing more to say.
Through broken walls and gray
The winds blow bleak and shrill:
They are all gone away.
Nor is there one to-day
To speak them good or ill:
There is nothing more to say.
Why is it then we stray
Around the sunken sill?
They are all gone away,
And our poor fancy-play
For them is wasted skill:
There is nothing more to say.
There is ruin and decay
In the House on the Hill:
They are all gone away,
There is nothing more to say.
Edward Arlington Robinson 1869-1935
More greyness and gloom. A fruitful day on well research. A quick trip down to Kilcrohane to deliver a donkey print to the local pub (!), avoiding a funeral tail back and stopping to admire this little house perched on its hill. It's patched but empty - no one has ever lived there as long as we've been here but it has a certain charm. The bracken is an amazing colour amidst the grey.
We really enjoyed Arrival last night - definitely the right choice. For a movie dealing with potentially the end of the world it was very slow paced and dreamy, very elegant and beautifully filmed and for once humans thought it might be a good move to try and communicate with aliens rather than blasting them out of existence. There was a bit of linear dimension time travel going on too which I always find a bit confusing but on the whole it was rather good.
