Farewell

HMS Illustrious leaves Portsmouth for the last time , off to Turkey for scrap.

There was much talk about saving her and to use her as a conference centre or some other such thing but that is just too costly.
I feel that the Royal Navy crew are the heart of a ship and once they have disembarked it is just an empty shell. A dignified departure was preferable.

There were a few of us there to wave her off nevertheless.
