Holly and Ivy

Last May’s holly flowers have matured and soon they will be picked as part of my Christmas decorations.  Since pagan times when there were few evergreen plants during winter, holly and ivy have been used to decorate homes and are traditionally now used as part of Christmas decorations. They are also part of a popular Christmas Carol and this might be of help in understanding a possible meaning of the verses.
