Little cross
After a busy day I was driving home from work and realised that I had not taken a blip for the day (most of my blips are 'grab' shots on the way to or from somewhere, I never go out specifically to 'do' photography - not enough hours in the day!).
Whilst I am not religious, churches make for a pretty good place to photograph. I found a little place just off my commute and was really struck by the contrast between the gravestones and the little cross in my shot above. The simplicity and small size of the cross made for a simple but powerful symbol.
As I was wandering around the grounds I noticed a fresh grave with birthday cards and balloons on it (judging by the cards, I think it was a young mother that had died). It was both deeply sad but also warming to see this act of remembrance. It's strange how the loss of a loved one can be both very personal and public at the same time.
