A new day

At about 6:30 AM this unusual cloud was being lit by the rising sun while sunlight had not yet touched the earth. Even the bottom of the cloud seems to be shaded by distant hills. Today our weather service issued a severe thunderstorm alert which remained in effect throughout the day. The wind rose to a gentle breeze, the weather remained hot and the storm did not materialize. It is now a beautiful evening but I will have to take a beautiful evening shot on another day.
