Bradley

I have been asked on several occasions for another picture of Bradley, our wee bull calf that Hilary'sView named. So today is the day - this is Bradley - coming up 3 weeks old.

This morning while feeding out, I had a wee chuckle to myself. A 2 year old cow, who was a first time calver, had just had her calf. The poor wee calf was still lying on the ground, and its mother seemed rather shell shocked at what had just happened. She was making strange mooing sounds, walking around the calf and jumping away from it everytime it moved. She really didn't have any idea that this is what she had pushed out - it was rather funny watching her. After milking tonight, we went down to the paddock and moved the calved cows and their calves to some fresh grass, and this poor cow still didn't really want too much to do with her calf, although the calf had had a drink. Hopefully overnight she will bond more with her wee baby.

Today we had our busiest day with new calves being born, which didn't leave much spare time during the day. At least the sun shone which made life on the farm so much easier today.
