Happy Birthday Kirk

One hundred years ago today Issur Danielovitch Demsky was born in New York to immigrants from the Russian Empire. He went on to become Kirk Douglas, actor, philanthropist and Democrat.

Star of such classics as Spartacus, The Glass Menagerie, Lust For Life - on BBC2 tomorrow afternoon - and Millie's favourite, Ace in the Hole, he's still a firebrand, having recently spoken out against Donald Trump's racist rhetoric.
