Calm Blue

Amazing green

After feeding the swans, we passed these amazing trees on our way back to the car. They must be at least thirty feet tall and seem so perfect, standing proudly in a row, a beautiful blend of greens hiding the dull tarmac of road and pavement behind.

I'm particularly in awe of their elegance and majesty today as our neighbours intend to cut down a hedge that has stood between our gardens for longer than I have lived. I'm very upset about it. To replace something that is green and luscious and alive (that provides food and shelter for birds; attracts insects; absorbs and reduces air and noise pollution; increases property value...) with a drab brick wall seems so wrong and I wish there was something I could do to stop them.

I hate people sometimes. OK, most of the time.
