"Stroll"
After dropping off Mrs Tuttle's older sister at Manchester Airport at three we popped into Quarry Bank Mill "for a little walk" hoping we'd get back in time for a coffee n cake at the cafe before closure. We walked up to a derelict farm, thought about turning back but decided to carry on "a bit more". This was Mrs (stuck in the mud) Tuttle's idea by the way. Stunned by her comment, I naturally agreed. Even though it was getting dark, cold, wet and nowhere near civilisation, we continued. No water or food. But we did have our wellies on, waterproofs and phone with GPS on. After much path following, root hopping, bridge crossing and puddle dodging we managed to reach the Airport Inn. The initial thought was "oh Shit!" as we appeared to be closer to the airport than Quarry Bank Mill, which we feared would have it's gates/carpark closed.
Fortunately it was only a 25 minute walk along the road/farm track according to Mrs Tuttle's phone. So off I went to get the car while the other two got toasty in the Honey Bee pub.
Meal ordered, wellies swapped, happy (and relieved) family.
Didn't stop there as we popped into Cheshire Oaks on the way back to see the tree and enjoyed a fresh Crepes and hot chocolate in the process.
Then home.
Ps: Mrs Tuttle reached her step target!
