Ramblings from Zambia....

early childhood issues!  I had a meeting with parish minsters and leaders from some churches this morning about Early Childhood!  It was really good - they were very participatory and fun!

As soon as it was over, we had to start the journey back to Lusaka and I knew we would arrive there late.  From Mazabuka to Lusaka the road is not great and it is really busy and I hate driving in the dark!  I had to take my boss home which meant going across the centre of Lusaka.  As we went along there was a broken down vehicle in front of us, so I had to slow down and suddenly there was a bang crash and we almost went through the front window!  A car had banged into the back of us in the worst possible part of town to stop!  Anyway, it was a small car and it wrecked our back bumper and a light, but the small car was completely wrecked in front!  The driver seemed to be drunk and he did not want us to call the police!  Lots of people started gathering round, some drunk and some waiting to see what they could steal!  I was quite scared I have to say!

Suddenly a police patrol car arrived with two very domineering police women!  They told us to follow them to the police station!  They gave me the drivers license of the other car to take with us.

Two hours at the police station and then a lady started shouting at us - why were we bothering them!  In fact, we had been told to go there - after a long time, we had to write statements and sign them!  I have to take the insurance documents and car registration documents on Monday to the police station!

I was pretty shaken up - I was extremely tired and very thankful that no one was hurt and I just wanted to go home! Knowing that I had to pass through the same road again to get to my house, was making me a bit nervous, but my kind boss called another vehicle to come and they escorted me home!  Such kind people I am working with!

So next week...its car repair time!!
