The Chessmen's Christmas Cards
The chessmen think so very hard
before they write each Christmas card:
May your Christmas be healthy, merry and bright,
writes a knight.
Joy and peace may this season bring,
pens one king.
Let good cheer be seen wherever you look,
writes one queen, with the aid of a helpful rook.
Wishing you a yuletide full of delights,
a bishop writes.
A new King is born!
writes a pawn, feeling meek.
And checkmate to his brother!
adds another – what cheek!

This is the latest of the very many adventures of my chessmen. They send all good wishes to everyone with their festive preparations.
Thank you for all the lovely comments on my church window yesterblip. You're very kind.
