Todos Santos & Fiesta Night!
8 of us started the day in 2 carloads heading over the mountains to Todos Santos on the Pacific side of the Baja Peninsula. We added up the kilometers on the map and thought it would be a short jaunt. Halfway up the mountain pass, car #2 passed us and stopped at a shrine....so we followed them off the road. Was it matines? A holy day of obligation? No....child (12) was car-sick and they wanted to go back. We carried on, but it seemed longer than it should have. Alas....our map was in MILES...not Kms. Drat! We broke all speed laws and reached the beautiful little town in time for lunch and a peruse of the galleries (Pix 1 & 2) Loved the mosaic on the wall of this gorgeous gallery. Lunch was at the Hotel California.....fab menu!
We dashed back over the mountains in time for the fiesta thrown for T's 70th birthday. We had a pinata strung up for the kids. Adults had to be blind-folded to try. A mighty whack by the birthday boy had candy scattered across the patio. Food was brought in by Carlotta and the local Mariachi band arrived. T's birthday "cake" was a delicious giant flan! We danced and sang with the band far into the night.....good thing we bought more tequila....
