Hitting the Road
Pretty convinced there's some meteorological machinations going on here. Some rainy ruse conspiring to turn the joy of cycling into a soggy slog even.
Despite statistics that say commuting by bicycle means you only get caught in the rain a dozen or so times (I can't find that one, but this one says only eight, though that might be referring just to the winter months it's covering) I've managed to get soaked to the wrinkly walnut level 3 times in a week. And I'm pretty damn sure I can add another one or two of those before the end of the week.
It wouldn't be so bad, but our fledgling new workplaces, that have been built to actively encourage us all to use other forms of transport to get to them (i.e. limited car parking, bike lockers) doesn't have a drying room or suitable lockers for those of us giving it a go. Having to get changed back into gear that has the fragrant aroma of damp dug at the end of the day isn't all that appealing.
As it was, that was all academic anyhow tonight as, despite a fine day between the hours of 9 and 4, there was a good old thunderstorm kicking off just as I'd squelched into my gear to head home. Proper bouncy stuff it was for a while too, which you can see in this shot rebounding back skyward through the window.
