Landed Iceberg

Nearly a half-foot of snow fell last night in Northampton. This is a plowed accumulation at the end of a long, narrow parking lot which I passed on the way to my oral surgeon, who applied a bone graft to the socket of the tooth that he pulled three weeks ago. Fortunately it's been less painful and bothersome than I had expected.

Tonight was members' evening at our bird club, with fifteen or so people presenting images of their activities--many from overseas, and not all about birds.  One fellow had joined a tour with expert herpetologists to Appalachia (Virginia, I think), where they found over fifty species of salamanders--many limited only to small areas, sometime just a single mountain.  It was fascinating and entertaining, as always.
