Olive Edis...and a selfie

Today B. and I met fellow blipper Rosiecatwoman at Norwich Castle, and after a cup of tea, piece of cake and a catch-up we went to see the special exhibition of the work of photographer Olive Edis.
Although raised in London, Olive was well known for her life in Norfolk, as she moved to Sheringham in 1905 to set up her own photographic studio.
Her first image was created in 1900 and she continued to photograph for another 50 years.  She photographed a whole range of subjects from royalty, aristocrats, authors and prominent society figures to local fishermen in Sheringham and Cromer.  Olive was also the first female war photographer to travel to Northern France and Belgium towards the end of the First World War to record the invaluable work carried out by women there.
I had not heard of her until I moved here to North Norfolk and found the exhibition fascinating and absorbing.  How great that her contribution has at last been recognised.
As you can see, B. and I couldn't resist an Olive Edis themed selfie.
The extra is of an intriguing doorway and flight of steps in Norwich Castle.
