Kirkgate Market, Leeds

Today I went over to Leeds to meet some old work colleagues for lunch. On the way I popped into Kirkgate Market as I have been meaning to get a blip of this place for a while.
Apart from being a splendid market hall, its main claim to fame is that in 1884, Kirkgate Market was the founding location of Marks and Spencer which opened in Leeds Market as a penny bazaar.

It is slightly tricky photographing the interior structure from ground level, as there are many market stalls crammed in. There is a gallery at first floor level offering the photographer a vastly superior vantage point. The only snag is there are signs saying "Traders Only" at the foot of each staircase. One trader had obscured one of the signs with their goods so I reckoned I could always say "Sign? - What sign?" if challenged by security.
In any case, there's a sense of satisfaction in getting a slightly illicit photo.

Today's extra photo is a shot from the same spot but at ground floor level.

They have put up some festive decorations, and it is a wide angle shot, so I'll sneak it into the widwed challenge as well ;-)
