Of Mistletoe and Holly

Mistletoe was held sacred by the Norse, the Celtic Druids and the North American Indians. It is also a symbol for peace and joy. Holly is one of the symbols most commonly associated with Christmas and has been used in this holiday's celebration for close to two thousand years.

This dapper snowman is part of a candle and wreath at friend's home where I am spending the night. I left the Gorge early this morning to get ahead of a projected storm. I had a meeting in Portland today and one in Salem tomorrow. Late today I received notice that tomorrow's meeting in Salem has been canceled. Snow and freezing rain have spread across the region. 

So, I guess that means I have an unexpected break : )
