We visited the David Hockney exhibition here in Oz which was fabulous.
This portrait of Barry Humphries is one of 83 portraits hanging in a long gallery in the National Gallery of Victoria. They each took him 3 days to complete and a wee look at the dates indicates that he paints every day at the age of 79.

The thing I liked about the exhibits is that he has painted many of the exhibits on I phone and I pad. This has the advantage that you can see the artist's paint/key strokes which make up the finished article.
Stupendous.
