Winter Beauty

All I want to do is hibernate.

It's very cold and dry here, and once the sun goes down, I start to yawn. Before that, however, I took some photos of the wildlife on our deck after I had put some millet out there. 

This male Northern Flicker, as well as a Western Gray Squirrel, found the millet very appealing, although the former had to eat it in a manner unlike its usual feeding technique (see extra).

Flexibility is what counts!

Like Wildwood, I watched President Obama's last White House press conference this afternoon -- a first for me, as well as a last. I was deeply impressed and moved by his thoughtful answers, particularly given what will be the new "norm" next month.
