David Hume

One of the driving forces of the Scottish Enlightenment - which lead the way in the European Enlightenment - David Hume, philosopher and humanist who pioneered the use of logic and reasoning in the pursuit of knowledge, rather than the previous dependence on blind faith - whatever the evidence might say! His statue is rightly placed near the top of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh - central to the nation's capital.
