Shopping 2012 Style

A recent innovation at our local Waitrose is this "Quick Check" system. Basically, they now want us to scan our shopping as well as serve ourselves.

It works like this. Pick up one of these hand held scanners, scan and bag your shopping, take your scanner to the "quick check" till, pay and go.

It seems easy to me but the rack was full of handsets as I went in and I didn't notice anyone using one as I walked round.

Maybe this advance is one step too far for Otley.
