Oban's Little Green Seafood Shack

Oban's little green seafood shack sits on the Railway Pier [Cal Mac Pier] right next to the Clansman's berth, see Sunday's blip, 19th August.

Everything is freshly caught and landed there on the pier where you will eat your snack. As far as I know it's still locally owned, and locally cooked and smoked. They provide outdoor benches and a table overlooking the harbour, the only downside being that the seagulls are a little too eager to share your lunch.

Their freshly made crab sandwich or hot roast salmon are to die for. If oysters and lobsters are more your thing, they will supply those too, AND at a fraction of the price of nearby fancy seafood restaurants [not that there's anything wrong with fancy restaurants for the right occasion - I want to be able to eat out in Oban in the future]

Today their chef [maybe the only chef you'll see in wellies] was preparing mussels outdoors, offering samples to passers by. I can tell you they are probably the best mussels I ever tasted, tender, tasty and titillating to your taste buds. Sensuality on a plate:)))

If you're ever within striking distance, well worth making the effort to get to Oban for lunchtime:) Cheers up even the most overcast day.
