A clear day

A day to walk off any excesses of yesterday. David N and myself headed to the hills of North Uist - North Lee to be precise.
A boggy walk in but as we got higher the view became more and more expansive and the sun just managed to creep above the level of the hill summits. Here you can see Lochmaddy with the island lifeline ferry stretched out beneath us
A sad sight was a memorial to some WWII American airman who having crossed the Atlantic safely failed to clear North Lee, albeit only just, and bits of their plane - mostly melted metal - is still there along with a small memorial.
A little other archaeological interest but basically a good stroll and a great chance to get some air in the lungs pre-Christmas. Ten kilometres and about five hundred metres of ascent was more than my knees thought was a good idea.
