STEAMED UP

It must be Christmas . . . visited Pickering Station today and the Santa Specials were in full flow. As we wandered towards the steam loco, Santa was piling in the coal . . . and he invited us aboard the footplate! So this is the real view the fireman gets along the line.
Today there were 3 locos working the Santa Specials. This one is 63395 . . . a Q6 engine used for freight work. It was one of the few pre-Grouping steam locomotives to survive right up to the end of steam on British Railways. Happy days !
