Seventy Five Years Ago Today...

Dear Diary,

It was a Sunday, back in 1941, the Winter Solstice, when my Dad and Mom were married in her parents house on Fair Street in Carmel, New York.  Pearl Harbor had been attacked two weeks before and it must have been an anxious time for everyone.  She was so young, just 19 years old, that Sunday but she looked so happy and beautiful in the lovely blue dress she chose to be married in standing in front of the tinsel decorated Christmas tree in the front parlor.

I was married on the Summer Solstice 28 years later.  On another Winter Solstice, in 1999, my dear Auntie, my father's favorite sister, died and I always think of these two events on this day; the beginning of a life together and the end of one very special life...a full circle I guess.
