From a civil servant's office...

Yesterday's  picture of the demolition of "new " St Andrews House produced a lot of reaction on twitter, with some former civil service occupants praising the views from , if not of, the building.  There was even one passionate and well informed defence of the architecture which I enjoyed reading.   

I tweeted one view from my office in St Andrews House this morning showing the snow dusted Pentlands though the pigeon netting tends to spoil any such picture.   I include it today as my extra photo. 

This is what the windows look out to from the other side of the fifth floor - the observatory on Calton Hill which is not such a bad vista either.
