MV Isle Of Mull at Campbeltown
10.4C and mostly dull with some bright spells between frequent squally showers in the afternoon. Wind mostly Southerly then SW/WSW/W to 38 mph with gusts (most of the wind seemed like gusts) to 61 mph.
Named Storm Barbara.
Last night when we were out with Maeve the Deerhound after 11pm we noticed a CalMac funnel above the buildings on the old quay. A ferry was at the new quay. Very unexpected. When I went to the fish shop this morning (Salmon quiche for A7, A Salmon fish cake and a half Salmon Scotch egg for me) it was dry so I wandered along past the ferry terminal to be nosey. The ferry at the new quay was (and is) MV Isle of Mull which, for those of you unfamiliar with CalMac ferries, runs from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. I can only assume its positioning here is something to do with Storm Barbara. No ferries are running to and from the Western Isles today. Weather reports from further North sound genuinely stormy. Parts of the Isle of Lewis without power, ferries off, trains off, planes off etc.
Maeve and I have been out a couple of times together. Carefully timed short walks between the squalls this afternoon. When we were last out I saw a plane overhead making its approach to the airport ...and the very best of luck !
Other than that we stayed in.
We listened to the radio mostly, then later there was music.
Afternoon music ... George Michael, Ladies And Gentlemen (The Best Of George Michael).
