Vet in the wet....

A miserable day weather wise. Wet , windy and getting colder.
Had to get the vet out to a cow which was off colour this morning. She calved 6 days ago and was off her grub and looking drawn in yesterday so I checked that she had cleaned after calving , found she had one quarter with a touch of mastitis and started her on penicillin .
No better this morning so got the vet out to try some different drugs . He thinks it may be a urine infection . We pumped 5 gallons of water into her stomach to help re hydrate her too , so we will see what happens.
Spent a refreshing afternoon in the bracing rain and wind helping wee brother chase some blackface ewe hoggs round a field to catch 10 of a neighbour's lambs who had broken in beside them. Unfortunately 2 of them were tup lambs, so we may be lambing some hoggs in May ! Good job they were wee brother's father in law's tup lambs or he might have got even more upset !
