Christmas Day Roast
Or equivalent for the vegetarian horses, The second bale of haylage this season and unlike the first one, this one looks really good. There is a small patch of wet mouldy grass. The area directly in front of the camera is the bit that has been lying on the ground for 6 months and normally where the condensation water forms.
The bales are 1.20m long and have a diameter of 1.30m = 1.6m³. No idea of weight but probably around 300kg.
Only took off the plastic wrapping today but it smelt great - just a very slight silage smell which will go once it is opened up and left a day or two and will to an untrained eye, not be discernible from hay.
Got it in today as the weather is due to get nasty. It had already been raining this morning. Added to which, the Christmas "stress" would make the job of putting implements on the tractor, collecting from the yard etc a nuisance when one could be drinking sherry oe whatever it is one does at Christmas.
