Old wreck
Sorry, S :-D
In order to work up a hearty appetite, we decided to start the day with a walk. I say "start", but after breakfast in bed and present-opening, we didn't get up till 10 o'clock. We went to Montjoi in the high Corbières for a walk in the woods. As it was a windy day this worked quite well; deep in the river valley we were sheltered from the wind almost all the time. We found this old wreck in a field; detail in extras, along with some tiny mossy details.
By the time we got back to the car after two hours' walking we felt suitably refreshed. We got home at 2 pm and were sitting down to lunch by four despite having done no advance preparation (well, apart from what I did yesterday...). We even found time to Skype S's mum and sit by the fire and drink fizz with blini and smoked salmon while the beef rested (we almost never have roast beef, so it felt more festive than a bird would have done). Menu: Jerusalem artichoke velouté, rare roast beef with S's superb Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and roast Brussels sprouts with walnuts. A ridiculously copious cheese platter, and then crèmes au muscat with prunes. Now lounging bloatedly on the sofa.
Almost all my presents were books, which is fine by me. But we were given a board game (Labyrinth) and some DVDs, so that's this evening's entertainment sorted. Happy Christmas to all my blipmates!
