A long-tailed tit and blue tit on one of the feeders on Wooler Common. Hundreds of small birds feeding this morning as we walked round in the wind. We also spotted a deer in the woods (quite close to the footpath but not for long) and a young red squirrel swaying about near the top of a tree (Extra).
MrM and I (and Louie, of course) are alone for Christmas Day this year. So it's been a day of good food (our traditional breakfast of porridge with honey, cream and whisky, and a traditional Christmas lunch), good wine, family phone calls and opening presents.
We may have escaped 'Barbara', but 'Conor' hit us today - we decided that battling against winds of 65mph wouldn't be much fun and abandoned ideas of an afternoon walk. Nice and cosy indoors though, and good to have a slightly-more-than-usual restful day!
Merry Christmas everyone!
