Neighbour
The raven was sitting on the fencepost when I spotted it. Huge and glossy black and perfectly posed for a handsome portrait. I thought even me and my not very far zooming lensed camera might manage a decent shot. But of course the raven being a canny bird, heard me open the window and took to the air. Not quite in focus but it does give an idea of how large the bird was.
We share our little bit of the island with a pair of ravens. Who seem to manage to raise a brood each year and then the young ones move on (I may well be completely wrong about this) but there always seem to be a pair here throughout the winter.
Raven's are bird that tends to divide opinion but I love having them as neighbours, especially when they sit on our roof and croak at each other. One day I might even take a decent pic of some.
