This photo was taken while I attended the L10 Convention: a convention for fans of The L Word / Lip Service / The Real L Word, run by Starfury conventions.

The guests were as follows:

Pam Grier (Kit, The L Word)
Janina Gavankar (Papi, The L Word)
Clementine Ford (Molly, The L Word)
Stamie and Tracy from The Real L Word
Roxanne McKee (Lou, Lip Service).

The convention was the last of it's kind and so was bittersweet to say the least. The L Word was the first ever TV show to depict the lives of lesbians, not as mass murderers, 'the gay best friend', as freaks or as small parts within the media. The L Word simply portrayed the lives of lesbians just as normal human beings going through discrimination, homophobia, love, break ups, having children, living with dodgy flatmates, and so on. Therefore, The L Word changed history for the better.

The creator of The L Word, Ilene Chaiken, is also the creator of the American reality tv show, The Real L Word, which Tracy and Stamie were a part of in season one.

Lip Service is currently the only TV Show currently (and only the second in history) that portrays the lives of women who happen to like women, as The L Word did. It is set in Scotland!

At the end of the convention, I walked up to Pam Grier and signed, "Thank you", and she signed back "Thank YOU! I love you!"...it was definitely a highlight for me!!
