Christmas Eve Around The World

Hello Blipfriends!
Dolly reporting!

Guess what? It's Christmas Eve but in some countries TODAY is considered Christmas! Sweden is one of them so we decided to share a bit of Christmas with our Swedish friends via FaceTime! We had sent each other gifts so we opened our presents TOGETHER! How cool is that? I got lots of exciting things like Trolls and treats and marshmallow Santas and post cards of ME and ALICE from our visit to Sweden last summer!

Mum comes from an American family and like many Americans who descend from Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia, she also grew up opening presents on Christmas Eve. So we just decided to keep going with the tradition and opened some presents we'd been sent in the post. See the fun poodle calendar? We get one every year from the same friend and we love it!

We also exchanged some gifts with the neighbours and I got special Christmas doggie treats, a dog ornament for the tree and a new cuddly toy. What a morning!

Since we love all things Swedish, we decided to have a special Swedish smörgåsbord lunch, just like Alice and her humans would have in Sweden today. OK, well, maybe not exactly the same, but with a few of the same things! Salmon, herring, pickles, beetroot and eggs with shrimp. Hard and soft bread and apple juice made with special Swedish apples. It was very yummy!

Finally we left for Mum's sister's house! Mum said she wanted to continue the Christmas Eve present opening tradition with them, so a few more presents were opened. Mum's sister has a LARGE family so there are LOTS of presents. Everyone (especially the children) decided it was a good thing to start a few early!

In the evening we were BOTH allowed to tag along to a party that they were going to! 19 adult humans, 2 tiny humans and 1 dog (ME)! Wow! A beautiful tree and LOTS of wonderful elegant food! They were very laid back about me being there and I did lots of supervision both in the kitchen and from my bed which we brought with us!

An exhausting but super fun day! Mum and I LOVE Christmas Eve!
