Whorlton Castle
On the way home today we stopped off in the village of Swainby on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
Just outside the village are the medieval ruins of Whorlton Castle. The photograph is actually of the old gatehouse as there is much less to see of the remains of the castle itself. It must have been a substantial structure in its day.
Ten minutes later and the sun had gone behind the hills of the N Yorks Moors.
Over two years ago I blipped the nearby Church of the Holy Cross in the abandoned village of Whorlton.
