Although the weather was actually quite good, unbelievably warm, no wind and with sessions of sunshine, I spent most of it indoors phoning, tidying up (well meaning to), washing up the large pots & pans, brewing up the goose carcass to make stock and salvage as much of the scraps of meat and soft tissue for the animals.
Then out with the bible Good Housekeeping Basic Cookery to create a creamy something with the cold goose meat. I do like the book, there isn't a single photograph but a few B&W sketches and thus nothing to compare the result with. Tasted good though this evening.
Also discovered that the wooden star I had made for father in law Sepp somehow got forgotten yesterday and at the same time that he had though given me a bottle of red wine - well I assume so, there is a card on it with my name. So thank you Sepp and I will have to make a new star anyway. I had sanded it on Friday and it looked really good when I brought it in, in the evening. Within 12 hours it had masses of tiny cracks and now big cracks and amazingly it is also bent. I know nothing about treating wood but can't believe a 2-3cm thick piece of hardwood could bend and crack in such a short time. especially as the tree was felled 9 months ago.
And finally discovered a SMS message on my mobile from 24.12 from Mr Mrs B wishing me a Happy Christmas. I think they are the only two humans on the planet who still use SMS and as I never check my Inbox and the SMS app doesn't whack it on the opening screen so that you have to see it, I had no idea of their kind message - Thank you. I did then reply mentioning my SMS problems with the reply "SMS messages are the same as WhatsApp". Well I suppose so. I did check and found the last essage was from June time from a USA friend and before that in April 2015 from Nogbad before he started using WhatsApp.
Back to normal tomorrow as it's no longer holiday time - here if a holiday falls on a weekend you don't get compensated by having the following work day free. Thus a repeat on New Years Day which is a Sunday.
