South Island Robin (Toutouwai)

Obviously it is best to screech for mum to come and feed you when you are standing on the van wing-mirror.  That is his tongue that has left a flicker in his mouth.

I've had a great day today.  I was joined by a friend last night at the Lake Daniels turnoff, so we talked well into the night.  This morning I walked part of the track and enjoyed the native birds and the bush.  I photographed a few but my favourite is this fledgling native robin at the campground.

Late morning we backtracked for a soak at Maruia Hot Pools.  We eventually made it to Murchison late afternoon.  I'm staying here tonight and heading forNelson in the morning.
