Christmas Day, Sunset
There was a tradition, at that time and in that place, an unwritten rule, an understanding, that the period between Christmas Day and New Years's Day was not part of the year. That, within reason and assuming that no particularly serious laws were broken, anything was allowed. Some just shut themselves away for a week, eating and drinking. Others treated the period as a week-long party. But M had something in mind - a list. M had a plan.
