Highland Cattle
Walked from home to Eynsford across the fields and along the river. Crossed over the bridge at the ford - and as our walking boots were caked with thick mud, in spite of wading through the water to rid them of it, we could not go inside a pub for a well deserved drink. Eynsford has a choice of four pubs, but one was closed today, and we chose The Castle Hotel as it had a welcoming terrace outside where we sat in the winter sunshine.
We returned home along the River Darent where the beautiful Highland cattle were grazing. We walked as far as Lullingstone Roman Villa and turned up through the woods and fields intending to return via Lullingstone Park. The uphill climb was very tiring and we decided to retrace our steps via Hulberry, which is just past Eagle Heights, a bird and animal "sanctuary". Back home just before sunset for a welcome espresso and panettone. Looking forward to a quiet evening of TV - second and final part of Agatha Christie's "Witness for the Prosecution".
Hope everyone has enjoyed Christmas and benefitted from a break from work and chores.
